The Ontario market (YYZ, YHM, YOW and more) plus extended markets (YQT, YWG, YUL) all have a common problem- there is nowhere near enough jet fuel being made in Chemical Valley (Sarnia) to satisfy the demands. Airlines have been importing jet fuel into this market since mid-1980's and we know the actual person that started this importing program. In our articles, seen as old but, still very relevant publishings explain more on this subject.

1. What is a fuel consortium? What is a fuel committee? Are they the big guy beating up the little guy as some airlines believe? Are they the enemy of good practice that some airports believe? Let me explain the corporate and operational makeup for you.

2. Are you paying too much for your fuel? Of course you are! Standard answer for every airline But, from the suppliers' point of view, nobody is paying nearly enough. So how does an airport determine if they are competitive? How does the board of any airline know if their average price is fair? The answers have to start by understanding how a price is created.
